Bolt for the Volt! Like hell I will. Sure the Chevy Volt (due out 2010) sounds great. Able to drive 40 miles before it even uses a bit of gas. You'll even get close to a $7,500 tax cut if you get one.
Here's the kicker! The price of the Chevy Volt - $35k-$40k.
Now here comes the ranting. (steps up on the box)
$40,000 are they out of their f*$king MIND! Sure the battery is expensive. This has Republican written all over it. We all know the rich are getting richer. Only people that is going to get this car is the upper crust folks who tote around in fucking Hummers anyway. These people aren't worried about the money they spend on gas. This is another Jones-mobile. To top it all off, they get a tax cut for getting it. These people don't need anymore tax cuts. If you can shed 40 grand for this car you don't deserve a tax cut.
Besides, let's think about a few things here. Middle class and lower income folks who are struggling aren't going to be running out snatching this car up. These are the people who are having a hard time with gas prices, rising food prices and just trying to make ends meet. These are the people who can benefit from this car.
Another good thing to think about is, where are you going to plug this thing in at? Only if you have a garage for one. There are lots of people living in apartments. What about at your job, where do you plug it in at then?
The Volt needs 6-8 hrs to charge. It apparently starts to charge it's self off the gas when you go over 40 miles on 1 full charge. But, then it only will charge it about 30%. So yes, you are going to have to plug it in somewhere.
I don't get hybrid or electric cars, specially the price. Yeah they are great on gas or if they take gas at all. Most of them just aren't that affordable. Don't tease me with cake.

Smart Car! now this is probably a more feasible car to have. I actually test drove one of these. It's cute as hell. Getting side tracked here for a moment. I have a fondness for short men. Just want to pick them up and squeeze them and play with their cheeks. I see this car running around from time to time and I get all giddy. I want to run up and squeeze it. It's so short and cute.
Practical? sorta kinda. It gets about 43 mpg. Some have reported getting closer to 50 mpg. It's parts are made from recyclable material. It's body panels are interchangeable if you want to mix and match colors. It does come in Convertible or Hard top. It does come with AC and CD player. I say all of that because most think it might not, giving the fact that it is so small.
If I lived someplace where it didn't snow. I would definitely buy this car. Oh, I didn't mention the price, it ranges from $11.5K -$16.5K. Hell you get 2 SmartCars fortwo instead of a Chevy Volt. Where's my tax cut now bitch! Nadda, after doing some research, I didn't find any tax cuts for getting a SmartCar. Roughly 400 plus miles to a full tank of gas, you can't beat that.
Sorry but if I could spend 35-40 grand on a Chevy Volt. My assumed smug ass wouldn't worry about an electric car, I'd be driving away in a New Camaro.
